Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo drop team news hints ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United

Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo have hinted at team news ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United.

The Reds will face Erik ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in what promises to be an intense match.

Arne Slot is keen to continue his unbeaten start to life in the Premier League after securing victories over Ipswich Town and Brentford.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Brighton last weekend.

Although the title race is still in its early stages, Liverpool are aware that they need to secure three points to keep pace, especially after Manchester City’s dominant win over West Ham on Saturday.

If Liverpool manage to defeat United by three or more goals, they could potentially head into the international break at the top of the table.

Alexis Mac Allister Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai have posted pre-match graphic previews of the fixture on their Instagram stories, which suggests they may feature in the match, either as starters or included in the matchday squad.

One player fans are eager to see this weekend is Federico Chiesa, who joined Liverpool late in the summer transfer window.

Ahead of the United clash, Slot was asked whether the former Juventus forward could make his debut.

“He’s going to train with us today but it’s a bigger chance that he is not in the squad for Sunday than he is,” said the Dutchman during Friday morning’s pre-match press conference.

“If injuries might come up in the upcoming two days we might need him, but I don’t expect him to be in but I cannot guarantee this.”

On Curtis Jones, who’s Liverpool’s only injury concern at the moment, Slot added: “At the moment there are not any other injuries except for Curtis Jones and he will not train with us today.

“But the rest will train with us today.”
