Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reportedly has just one more game to convince the club’s hierarchy that he deserves to remain at Old Trafford.
The team has experienced a sluggish start to the season, winning only three of their first ten matches.
As a result, Ten Hag has faced constant criticism, especially following the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat to Tottenham.
After that loss, it was reported that the Dutchman had been given two games to improve both performances and results.
However, in the first of those matches, United could only manage a 3-3 draw against Porto in the Europa League, failing to secure a positive outcome.
According to The Sun, INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are remaining firm on the deadline they set for Ten Hag, making his future contingent on the team’s performance in their next match against Aston Villa.
This clash is particularly significant as it falls just before the October international break.
The Red Devils have struggled defensively this season, having conceded three goals in a match three times already.
In fact, since Erik Ten Hag took charge in the summer of 2022, no Premier League team has conceded three or more goals as frequently in all competitions as Manchester United.
Now, the team faces a pivotal encounter against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday, October 6.
This match could ultimately determine Ten Hag’s fate as head coach of the club.
