Liverpool’s summer outgoings and the movement of former players have generated significant funds for the club as the transfer window nears its close.
With just 15 days remaining in the summer window, Liverpool stand out as the only Premier League club yet to make a permanent signing.
The Reds pursued Martin Zubimendi as a potential No. 6, but his rejection has left Liverpool without an alternative, potentially resulting in another summer of not addressing a key area of need.
Despite the lack of new signings, Liverpool does have the financial resources.
The club was willing to pay Zubimendi’s £51 million buyout clause and is set to raise up to £47 million this summer.
Bobby Clark is nearing a £10 million move to Salzburg, which would make him the second sale of the summer following Fabio Carvalho’s transfer to Brentford for up to £27.5 million.
The Reds are awaiting confirmation of all the add-ons in Carvalho’s deal, but so far, they have secured £32.5 million from the Portuguese player’s transfer, with an initial fee of £22.5 million.
Additionally, the strategic inclusion of sell-on clauses has proven beneficial, with Dominic Solanke, Kamil Grabara, Luis Alberto, and Liam Millar all making moves this summer.
Solanke’s transfer from Bournemouth to Tottenham could net Liverpool up to £9.2 million, while the combined sell-on fees from Alberto and Grabara amount to £4.8 million.
Overall, the sale fees and sell-on clauses have generated just over £46.5 million, providing ample funds to reinvest in the squad.
This figure is expected to grow, with Sepp van den Berg and Tyler Morton both attracting interest and valued around £20 million.
There is a real possibility of further outgoings before the window closes.
Additionally, names like Ben Doak, Nat Phillips, and Owen Beck have been mentioned in connection with potential permanent transfers, which could further increase the funds raised.
Liverpool have also benefited from offloading the wages of Thiago and Joel Matip earlier this summer, adding a substantial amount to their financial resources.
