Arne Slot will likely need to make at least one change when Liverpool return from the international break.
The Reds entered the two-week hiatus following a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
Diogo Jota netted the only goal of the match at Selhurst Park, allowing Liverpool to maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table.
The Reds will not be back in action until they host Chelsea at Anfield on October 20.
However, Liverpool faced a significant injury setback during the match, as Alisson Becker was substituted in the second half against Crystal Palace.
The Brazilian goalkeeper appeared to suffer a muscle injury and was replaced by Vitezslav Jaros, who made his first-team debut for the Reds.
Abigail Rudkin (@rudkin_abigail) is here to offer an insightful breakdown of what happened at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool head into the international break at the top of the Premier League table, what’s your general overview of the game against Palace?
Abigail: I think going into the international break top of the league, even if it is only by a point, will give the players a massive boost even if it is only early days.
I think the Palace game was a struggle, but we ground out the result well and professionally.
The biggest issue in the game is the Alisson injury, who must be the most unlucky keeper with injuries.
It’s very Liverpool to have the best keeper in the world and for him to be this injury prone sadly.
Arne Slot continues to make history as Liverpool head coach, how impressed have you been about the Dutchman?
Abigail: Arne Slot’s blunt honesty and need for perfection in press conferences has been very entertaining and gives me a sense of reassurance going forward.
I feel like we are in a winner’s hands with Arne, I just get a good feeling what he’s building at the club is special off the back of the foundations Jurgen left.
Liverpool wasted chances against Palace. Should this be a worry for Arne Slot?
Abigail: We’ve wasted chances frequently this season but at the end of the day we’re not conceding many and are managing to get the crucial goal to guarantee us a win most of the time so I don’t think it’s too much of a concern.
Everything seems less heavy metal and a bit more calm, cool and collected in the way we are doing things to grind out results. So it’s not too much of a concern
Finally, how would you rate Liverpool’s season so far under Arne Slot?
Abigail: Rating his season so far is a difficult one. 9 wins out of 10 is a record start so we can’t complain.
It’s excellent.
