Liverpool are prepared to allow academy prospect Harvey Blair to leave the club on a permanent deal this summer, according to David Lynch.
The 20-year-old forward has garnered interest from Championship side Portsmouth, among others, and the Reds are not expected to stand in his way should a suitable offer materialize.
A loan move might have been anticipated for Blair, especially after his impressive performances during pre-season training with Liverpool’s first team under manager Arne Slot.
The Huddersfield-born player also featured in friendlies against Real Betis and Arsenal.
He was one of a select group of youngsters retained for the final fixture of the Reds’ U.S. tour against Manchester United.
However, Blair could now be part of a growing list of young talents departing Anfield this summer, as Slot and new sporting director Richard Hughes continue reshaping the squad.
In line with this, Bobby Clark is on the verge of completing a £10 million transfer to RB Salzburg, while 18-year-old winger Ben Doak may also be allowed to leave permanently.
Blair’s talent is well-documented, despite an injury-disrupted 2023-24 campaign.
The youngster showcased his potential two years ago in the U18 Premier League, netting 10 goals and providing five assists in just 16 appearances.
With Portsmouth showing interest and Reading also reportedly monitoring his situation, Blair will be hoping for a chance to prove himself at senior level in the coming season.
Blair signed a new contract with Liverpool FC in December 2021, having originally joined the club as an U12 player.
Despite primarily playing for the U18s, Blair made his senior debut for Liverpool in their Carabao Cup victory over Preston North End in October 2021.
The 2021-22 season was a standout year for Blair, who scored 14 goals in all competitions and featured prominently for the U21s.
Known for his blistering pace and ability to score spectacular goals, he is an exciting player who can operate effectively out wide.
After recovering from injury, Blair enjoyed a strong second half of the 2022-23 season, contributing significantly to Barry Lewtas’ team as they finished as runners-up in Premier League 2.
