Liverpool are back in Champions League action this evening as they host Bologna at Anfield.
The Reds aim to secure their second win in the competition following their recent victory over AC Milan.
Under the management of Arne Slot, who has won seven of his eight matches this season, Liverpool are riding high after their Premier League win over Wolves last weekend.
Tonight’s match against Bologna will mark Slot’s first experience managing Liverpool in a European fixture at Anfield.
However, Liverpool face some fitness and injury concerns ahead of the game. Harvey Elliott remains sidelined with a fractured foot, and Federico Chiesa is not expected to feature.
Slot confirmed that Chiesa missed training on Monday and is unlikely to play against Bologna.
On a positive note, Diogo Jota, who had been absent from training in recent days, underwent scans for a foot injury sustained during the win over Wolves.
Slot expressed optimism that Jota could still be included in the matchday squad.
Additionally, Darwin Nunez is expected to return after missing the victory at Molineux due to illness.
During Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, Slot said: “Federico trained with us yesterday and came in today with some problems, and I’m not expecting him to be in the team tomorrow.
“Which is a pity for us but of course for him even more.
“He was looking forward to a Champions League night at Anfield and especially because we’re facing an Italian team.
“It’s a pity for him but he will be there [in the future], many more nights to come for him.
“Diogo missed out on two sessions after the game against Wolves.
“He took a knock.
“I’m expecting him to be with us tomorrow, that he’s available to play.”
