Manchester City may still look to Kevin De Bruyne for their crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday.
De Bruyne was substituted during the Champions League match against Inter Milan on Wednesday due to a knock, with City’s medical staff informing Pep Guardiola that he could not continue after the first half.
However, further assessments have not ruled De Bruyne out of the upcoming match, and the manager remains hopeful that he will be able to call upon the Belgian midfielder.
If De Bruyne is ultimately ruled out, he would become the third Manchester City player sidelined due to injury.
Oscar Bobb sustained a leg fracture on the eve of the Premier League season, while Nathan Ake injured his hamstring during international duty in September.
“He feels a little bit better today but we have not yet had training and we will see.,” he said in a press conference ahead of the game.
“He could be [involved].”
Guardiola claimed that Phil Foden, who replaced De Bruyne in the match against Inter, is now fit to play a full 90 minutes after a disrupted start to the season.
“Every player needs a break. He played a good 45 minutes the last game”. Guardiola said.
“He was the best player in the league last season and can fight with the other midfield players.
“Unfortunately the final decision he was not more calm but his intensity and pressing and movements in small pockets, he is one of the best in the world.
“That’s why we are very pleased that he is back.”
