Manchester United and Newcastle to battle for free-agent Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United and Newcastle United are still in contention to sign free-agent midfielder Adrien Rabiot, despite an offer from Turkish giants Galatasaray, according to TEAMtalk.

Following the expiration of his contract with Juventus and the closure of the transfer window, Adrien Rabiot remains without a team.

This status makes him a compelling option for numerous international clubs still seeking to complete their squads.

However, his high financial demands are hindering his return to the field.

AC Milan expressed interest just before the transfer window closed, but negotiations faltered quickly.

The Rossoneri had considered him as a potential replacement for Ismael Bennacer.

However, Bennacer’s continued presence and Rabiot’s significant financial demands, driven by his mother and agent Veronique Rabiot, led to the collapse of the deal.

Currently, Galatasaray are the most active club in pursuing Rabiot.

After acquiring Victor Osimhen, the Turkish side aims to bolster their midfield by either signing Rabiot or, alternatively, Weston McKennie from Juventus.

Galatasaray hae already extended an offer to Rabiot, but he is hesitating as he remains keen on a Premier League move.

Manchester United and Newcastle are the two Premier League clubs that could benefit from strengthening their midfields.

Manchester United, following the sale of Scott McTominay and the underwhelming performance of Casemiro against Liverpool, alongside Christian Eriksen’s diminished role, has been evaluating options for a new free-agent midfielder.

However, Rabiot’s potential move to United is complicated by the strategies of the INEOS group, which aims to gradually phase out players over 30 years of age and those with high financial demands.

Newcastle, on the other hand, have been in contact with Rabiot for weeks and may look to enhance their midfield, which has been bolstered by the return of Sandro Tonali, by adding Rabiot to their squad.

The possibility of a Premier League move remains viable, and Rabiot is taking his time to make a decision before responding to Galatasaray’s offer.

The experienced French international has scored 48 goals in 463 club appearances and is approaching 50 caps for his country.
