Manchester United have not approached former Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel while Erik ten Hag is on a brief holiday, according to Sky Sports.
The club’s executive committee is meeting in London to discuss their next steps.
As is customary during the international break, Ten Hag has taken a few days off to recharge, expecting to remain in charge at Old Trafford after the break.
He believes he still has the backing of the club’s hierarchy ahead of their summit and has not received any information to the contrary.
While Thomas Tuchel was previously considered a leading candidate for replacing Ten Hag during a strategic review in the summer, he has not received any formal communication about taking over at Old Trafford.
Discussions had progressed to the point of negotiating financial terms, but they broke down, leading United to decide that they already had the best available manager in place.
The executive committee meeting, long scheduled, will be attended by key figures at the club, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Sir Dave Brailsford, and Joel Glazer.
Chief Executive Omar Berrada, Sporting Director Dan Ashworth, Technical Director Jason Wilcox, Chief Operating Officer Collette Roche, and Chief Financial Officer Roger Bell will also be present.
This meeting reflects an INEOS-led commitment to hold monthly discussions on football operations in person.
The meeting is not solely in response to United’s current form, which sees them winless in five matches across all competitions and having posted their worst Premier League start.
However, this situation will be a discussion point. Ten Hag has consistently expressed that he retains the support of the leadership group, which aligns with the prevailing sentiment within the club.
He has not been given any indication that his job is under threat during his regular dialogue with club officials.
“I don’t have any idea that is different because they should have told me [if not],” Ten Hag said on Sunday.
“We communicate very openly and transparently.
“I speak continuously with them.
“Every week, I would say every day, we talk, so I expect I will speak with them.”
