Why Jadon Sancho is not in Manchester United squad for Fulham clash

Erik ten Hag has given a significant indication regarding Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United by leaving him out of the squad for the match against Fulham.

Sancho has been the subject of intense speculation regarding a potential summer departure.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in discussions to sign the England international.

The 24-year-old’s omission follows his penalty miss during Manchester United’s shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield, which led to his exclusion from the squad for the Premier League opener against Fulham.

Instead, the young Toby Collyer was chosen for the substitutes’ bench.

This development follows a previous fallout between Sancho and Ten Hag last September, which resulted in Sancho being loaned out to Borussia Dortmund for the second half of the previous season.

During his time in the Bundesliga, Jadon Sancho scored three goals and provided three assists in 21 appearances.

However, Dortmund were unable to secure Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis due to Manchester United’s asking price.

This summer, Manchester United have invested €164.5 million on new signings, including Lille defender Leny Yoro, Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee, and Bayern Munich defensive duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Despite these significant additions, the Red Devils are still looking to strengthen their midfield.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is Manchester United’s top target, though Burnley’s Sander Berge is also being considered as a viable alternative.

Currently, Manchester United have not yet met PSG’s asking price for Ugarte, causing the deal to stall.

However, with PSG’s interest in Sancho, a transfer agreement could potentially be reached before the end of the summer transfer window in late August.

United XI: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Mount, Rashford; Fernandes (c).

Substitutes: Bayindir, De Ligt, Evans, Eriksen, McTominay, Collyer, Antony, Zirkzee, Garnacho.
