Confirmed Liverpool line-up v Manchester United
Liverpool take on Manchester United in final match of their United States tour
Liverpool and Manchester United will conclude their tours of the United States with a pre-season friendly in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Arne Slot era at Liverpool has started impressively, with pre-season victories over Real Betis and Arsenal.
The Reds secured a 1-0 win against the Spanish side, thanks to a goal from Dominik Szoboszlai, and followed up with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in Philadelphia, with Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho getting on the scoresheet.
Liverpool are still awaiting the return of several summer internationals, including Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Darwin Nunez.
Andy Robertson, despite travelling to North America, is currently sidelined with an injury.
However, Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate have joined their teammates across the pond, and manager Arne Slot has confirmed they will each play a maximum of 45 minutes against Manchester United.
Diogo Jota, who had just returned from representing Portugal at Euro 2024, had a similar role in the match against Arsenal.
Curtis Jones, initially doubtful for the Arsenal game due to a knock sustained against Real Betis, was fit enough to start. Dominik Szoboszlai, meanwhile, was utilized as a holding midfielder in the previous match and performed admirably in this unconventional role.
In contrast, Manchester United’s pre-season under Dutchman Erik ten Hag has been more uneven.
They experienced a defeat to Rosenborg, followed by a 2-0 win over Rangers before their U.S. tour.
During their American leg, the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Arsenal but bounced back with a narrow 3-2 victory over Real Betis.
However, injuries to Rasmus Hojlund and new signing Leny Yoro have added complications to their preparations.
