Liverpool reject £15m Southampton offer for Fabio Carvalho
Southampton see their offer quickly turned down by the Reds for Carvalho
Liverpool has rejected Southampton’s offer for midfielder Fabio Carvalho according to David Ornstein.
The 21-year-old midfielder who is having a fine preseason was once again on the scoresheet against Manchester United in the 3-0 win in South Carolina.
The Reds starlet has shown intentions of carrying his impressive form whilst on loan at Hull City into the new season. An attempt to keep his name in new boss Arne Slot’s head.
Southampton has been busy in the market after Martin Russell brought in a couple of new signings including Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Flynn Downes, and Ben Brereton Diaz.
However, losing Ryan Fraser and David Brooks in midfield could be a huge blow after their loan spells ended at the end of last season.
Southampton turned their eyes on the Liverpool man to fill the void left by the duo after his strong performances in preseason.
However, with the Reds themselves inactive in the transfer market, it is unknown how important Fabio Carvalho could be to Liverpool’s plans.
Carvalho was reportedly a target for the Saints in January this year, but an offer could not materialize. That could signal how much the South Coast side values the young attacker.
Should they want to test Liverpool’s resolve, a much higher offer would have to be made to have any chance of landing their target.
For now, Fabio Carvalho remains very much of Liverpool’s plans for the new season.
