Manchester United hold initial talks with Burnley over deal for Sander Berge
Sander Berge is attracting interest from Manchester United
Manchester United have initiated talks with Burnley regarding a potential transfer for midfielder Sander Berge, according to Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old, who has three years remaining on his contract with the Clarets, is reportedly keen on making the move to Old Trafford.
Despite being a standout performer in Burnley’s midfield last season, Sander Berge could not prevent the team’s relegation to the Championship.
Berge is not the only candidate on United’s radar.
Man United are also in ongoing talks with AS Monaco about a deal for midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who is in the final year of his contract.
AC Milan’s interest in Fofana has diminished after they failed to reach an agreement with Monaco.
Additionally, United’s pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte has waned due to a significant discrepancy in valuation.
While negotiations could resume if PSG revises their asking price, there are currently no plans to re-enter talks.
Palmeiras’ Richard Rios remains a target, though his transfer fee might be a barrier.
Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who was on loan at United last season, is also under consideration.
Ideally, United would like to create additional squad space and increase their budget before making a new signing.
Currently, Fulham are not expected to submit a new bid for Scott McTominay, despite previous interest. Galatasaray remains interested in the Scotland international but has yet to meet United’s valuation.
Meanwhile, interest from Saudi Arabian clubs in Casemiro has also cooled for the time being.
