Manchester City secured the first trophy of the new season, triumphing over Manchester United in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw to win the Community Shield on Saturday.

He immediately became a threat, and with eight minutes remaining, he broke the deadlock with a terrific run and finish.

Silva, another substitute, scored a brilliant header to equalize in the closing stages, connecting with a superb cross from Bobb.

With the score level after 90 minutes, the match was decided by penalties.

Despite the Community Shield often being regarded as a glamorous friendly, the tension was palpable at Wembley.

United’s Andre Onana, gave his side early hope by saving Silva’s penalty, but misses from Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans proved costly.

City defender Manuel Akanji calmly converted the winning penalty, adding to City’s growing trophy collection.
