Liverpool’s final pre-season friendly of the summer concluded with a goalless draw against La Liga side Las Palmas at Anfield on Sunday evening.

This marked the Reds’ second match of the day in L4, following their earlier 4-1 victory over Sevilla.

Andy Robertson came closest to breaking the deadlock, narrowly missing out when his fine effort from the edge of the area struck the post.

The fixture provided an opportunity for manager Arne Slot to give 31 players some valuable game-time ahead of next weekend’s Premier League opener against Ipswich Town.

Despite the lack of goals, it was a useful workout for Liverpool as they fine-tune their preparations for the competitive season.

The match also saw the summer’s first appearances for Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez, and Robertson.

The game was held behind closed doors at Anfield, contributing to an unusual atmosphere.

After a balanced start, Liverpool began to find their rhythm.

In the 16th minute, Harvey Elliott played a precise pass into Gakpo inside the box, but the Dutch forward’s shot was comfortably saved by Jasper Cillessen.

Moments later, Núñez found the back of the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside after Ben Doak’s header was played back across goal.

Liverpool’s defence had a scare when Caoimhin Kelleher misjudged the flight of a cross, leaving Jaime Mata with a chance, but Robertson was on hand to clear the danger.

Kelleher was soon called into action again, making a crucial save at the near post from Alex Suárez’s close-range strike.

Ben Doak nearly capitalized on a Robertson cross in the 35th minute, but the awkward height of the ball made it difficult to control, allowing Cillessen to collect.

Núñez later tested Cillessen with a low shot after a surging run down the left, but the Las Palmas goalkeeper was equal to the effort.

Robertson had another tense moment when he flicked a Marvin Park cross onto the top of his own crossbar, attempting to avert danger.

As the play switched end-to-end, Robertson found himself in another attacking position but was denied by a last-ditch tackle as he prepared to shoot.

The second half began with Wataru Endo testing Cillessen with a header, while Doak saw his shot deflected behind by Kirian Rodríguez after some neat play from Elliott.

Liverpool’s best chance to take the lead came in the 59th minute.

Robertson, receiving a pass from Núñez on the edge of the box, spun his marker and unleashed a left-footed curler that smashed against the post.

As the match entered its final stages, Kelleher made another smart save at his near post to deny Alberto Moleiro, while Conor Bradley’s low shot across goal was kept out by Cillessen after being set up by Doak.

In the dying moments, Las Palmas nearly snatched a winner when Iván Gil found himself six yards out with only Kelleher to beat but failed to make proper contact, ensuring the game ended goalless.
