Red Bull Salzburg make £8.2m bid for Liverpool’s Bobby Clark
Bobby Clark is attracting interest from Red Bull Salzburg
Red Bull Salzburg have intensified their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, submitting an offer of approximately €9.6 million (£8.2 million), according to The Athletic.
The Austrian side, managed by former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, are eager to secure the 19-year-old England youth international on a permanent deal.
However, their latest bid falls well short of Liverpool’s valuation, and negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
Salzburg remain hopeful that a compromise can be reached.
Clark missed Liverpool’s recent pre-season tour in the United States due to a back injury but has since returned to training at Kirkby.
Liverpool had initially been considering a loan move for Clark, with Championship clubs such as Norwich City, Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Coventry City expressing interest.
However, Salzburg’s persistence has opened the possibility of a permanent transfer.
Clark, who joined Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle United in 2021, made significant strides last season, making 12 senior appearances under Jurgen Klopp.
Salzburg’s interest is understandable, given Clark’s development under the guidance of Lijnders and Vitor Matos, now Lijnders’ assistant at Salzburg.
Liverpool, however, are firm in their stance that any sale will only be sanctioned if they receive an offer that they believe adequately reflects Clark’s potential and the market value of similar players.
Liverpool will kick off their new Premier League campaign against newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday.
