Kurt Zouma fails Shabab Al-Ahli medical as move to UAE falls through
Kurt Zouma set to return to West Ham United after failed medical
Kurt Zouma’s anticipated transfer to United Arab Emirates club Shabab Al-Ahli has fallen through after the West Ham defender failed his medical examination, according to BBC.
The 29-year-old had travelled to Dubai to finalize what was expected to be a lucrative deal.
However, with the move now off, Zouma’s representatives are exploring alternative options for his future.
Zouma, who still has a year remaining on his contract with West Ham, faces uncertainty despite the club’s recent defensive reinforcements.
The Hammers have secured the services of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice on a loan deal that includes a €40 million (£34.22 million) obligation to buy the 24-year-old central defender.
Additionally, West Ham strengthened their backline by acquiring Wolves captain Max Kilman for £40 million last month.
Since joining West Ham from Chelsea in a £29 million move in 2021, Zouma has made 103 appearances for the club.
He played a crucial role in their 2023 Europa Conference League final victory over Fiorentina.
Kurt, a France international who won two Premier League titles and the Champions League with Chelsea, was appointed West Ham’s club captain at the start of last season, following Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal.
