Red Bull Salzburg submit third bid for Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark
Salzburg are keen to sign Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark this summer
Red Bull Salzburg have made a third bid for Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark, which is believed to be closer to Liverpool’s £10 million asking price, according to The Times.
Salzburg’s second offer of £8 million was rejected on Sunday, but the club remain keen on acquiring the 19-year-old talent.
Managed by Pep Lijnders, the former Liverpool assistant who worked alongside Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, Salzburg finished second in the league last season.
Lijnders, who is assisted by Vitor Matos is determined to bring the young midfielder to the Austrian side.
Liverpool are currently considering Salzburg’s latest offer.
Salzburg are preparing for the second leg of their Champions League third-round qualifying match against FC Twente.
Bobby Clark missed Liverpool’s recent pre-season tour in the United States due to a back injury but has since returned to training at Kirkby.
Liverpool had initially been considering a loan move for Clark, with Championship clubs such as Norwich City, Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Coventry City expressing interest.
However, Salzburg’s persistence has opened the possibility of a permanent transfer.
Clark, who joined Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle United in 2021, made significant strides last season, making 12 senior appearances under Jurgen Klopp.
Salzburg’s interest is understandable, given Clark’s development under the guidance of Lijnders and Vitor Matos, now Lijnders’ assistant at Salzburg.
Liverpool, however, are firm in their stance that any sale will only be sanctioned if they receive an offer that they believe adequately reflects Clark’s potential and the market value of similar players.
Liverpool will kick off their new Premier League campaign against newly-promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday.
