Cole Palmer has penned a two-year contract extension with Chelsea, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until June 2033, according to The Athletic.
The extension comes as a reward for Palmer’s impressive first season with Chelsea, during which he scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
Chelsea acquired Palmer from Manchester City last summer for an initial fee of £40 million, with an additional £2.5 million possible in add-ons.
The England international initially signed a seven-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months.
Prior to joining Chelsea, Palmer had made just 19 Premier League appearances for Manchester City.
However, his standout performances in west London earned him a spot in the England squad for the European Championship.
Although he was an unused substitute in England’s first two matches of the tournament, Palmer played in all five of their subsequent games.
He scored England’s equalizing goal in the final, where they were defeated 2-1 by Spain.
Chelsea have had a busy summer transfer window, bringing in Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City, Renato Veiga from Basel, Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United, Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors and Pedro Neto from Wolves.
They also agreed on a €40 million deal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion, but this move appears to have collapsed due to complications in finalising his contract.
