Liverpool to discuss Giorgi Mamardashvili deal with Valencia
Liverpool are interested in signing Giorgi Mamardashvili
Liverpool are planning to engage in discussions with Valencia regarding a potential transfer deal for their highly-rated goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Despite not yet signing a new player this summer, Liverpool are determined to end the transfer window on a high note.
One area in particular that needs strengthening is the goalkeeper position, especially with Adrian now having moved to Real Betis.
In addition to Adrian’s departure, the future of Caoimhin Kelleher at Anfield remains uncertain.
As a result, Liverpool, under the guidance of Arne Slot, are expected to explore the transfer market before the window closes at the end of the month.
Although Liverpool already have one of the world’s top goalkeepers in Alisson Becker, they are still looking to bolster their options in goal.
This has led to their interest in Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is reportedly eager to make a move to Anfield.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool’s interest in the 23-year-old, who has been described as ‘sensational,’ remains strong.
The Reds have also been in discussions with the goalkeeper’s representatives regarding a potential transfer.
Romano posted on X: “One more meeting has already been scheduled for Liverpool to discuss Giorgi Mamardashvili deal with Valencia.
“Up to the Reds as he’d be loaned out and Georgian GK is keen on this solution.”
Giorgi Mamardashvili has been a standout performer for Valencia since his move to the La Liga side in 2021, initially joining on loan from Dinamo Tbilisi.
The goalkeeper truly made a name for himself at Euro 2024, where he delivered an impressive performance and led Georgia to the Round of 16.
Earlier this summer, reports indicated that Valencia were seeking a fee of €45 million (£38.6m/$49.1m) for the rising star.
However, with limited interest at that price, recent updates suggest that Liverpool could acquire Mamardashvili for a reduced amount, as Valencia are eager to make sales.
