Liverpool agree £10m fee with Red Bull Salzburg for Bobby Clark
Bobby Clark will travel to Austria to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical examination.
Liverpool have reached an agreement with Red Bull Salzburg for the transfer of midfielder Bobby Clark, with the fee set at approximately £10 million, according to The Athletic.
The 19-year-old England youth international has been granted permission to travel to Austria to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical examination.
As part of the deal, the Reds have secured a 17.5% sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player.
Salzburg had intensified their pursuit of Clark with an initial offer of around £8 million, which Liverpool rejected.
However, Salzburg, managed by former Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders, remained optimistic that a compromise could be reached.
Clark, eager for the opportunity to play Champions League football, was equally enthusiastic about the move.
Clark was absent from Liverpool’s recent pre-season tour of the U.S. due to a back injury but resumed training at Kirkby earlier this month.
Liverpool had initially considered sending Clark out on loan, with Championship clubs Norwich City, Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Coventry City among those interested.
However, Salzburg’s persistence paved the way for a permanent transfer.
Since joining Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle United in 2021, Clark has made significant strides, registering 12 senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side last season.
Salzburg’s interest in Clark was unsurprising, given his development under the guidance of Lijnders and Vitor Matos, who is now Lijnders’ assistant at the Austrian club.
