Ange Postecoglou confirms Dominic Solanke will miss Tottenham’s clash against Everton
Dominic Solanke joined Tottenham from Bournemouth this summer
Dominic Solanke has been ruled out of Tottenham’s match against Everton on Saturday due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by manager Ange Postecoglou.
The 26-year-old striker, who recently joined Spurs from Bournemouth in a £65 million deal, made his debut in their 1-1 draw against Leicester on Monday.
However, he sustained a knock during the game that will delay his first home appearance for the club.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Postecoglou said: “Dom picked up a knock in the last game.
“He got through the game but it flared up the day after.
“He’ll miss tomorrow (Everton).
“It’s an ankle injury. He copped it fairly early on when someone went over his ankle.”
Richarlison is “ready to go” and is expected to replace Solanke in the lineup.
Dominic Solanke is not the only Spurs player missing from the weekend’s Premier League game, as Rodrigo Bentancur is also unavailable due to a concussion.
Postecoglou continued: “We respect concussion protocols and [with] any head injury we’ll always be a little more conservative.
“The good news is he’s bounced back really well, done all the tests, but we’ll take our time with Rodrigo before putting him back out there.”
One player who could start in Bentancur’s place is Yves Bissouma.
The Malian midfielder, who was previously suspended by Tottenham after being filmed inhaling laughing gas on the eve of the new season, is now available for selection.
However, his coach suggested that the impact of the video is still being addressed.
He said: “Biss is available but we’ve got some options there and the whole idea of bulking up the squad in pre-season was for these kinds of scenarios.
“He’s available for selection but the bridge building continues.”
