Manchester City have explored the possibility of signing highly-rated talent Orri Oskarsson from FC Copenhagen as a potential back-up for Erling Haaland, according to The Athletic.
Though the reigning Premier League champions are currently unlikely to push forward with a deal for the 19-year-old striker, they remain firm admirers of his abilities.
Oskarsson is expected to depart Copenhagen before the summer transfer window closes.
The Iceland international has caught the attention of several clubs across Europe after a prolific start to the season, scoring seven goals in 11 appearances.
It is anticipated that Oskarsson could leave for around €20 million (£16.9m/$22.4m), plus add-ons.
Manchester City have placed Oskarsson high on their list of potential targets as they consider reinforcing Pep Guardiola’s attacking options ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi is also among those being monitored.
Although City are not expected to pursue their interest in Orri Oskarsson at this time, other Premier League clubs are vying for his signature.
Porto and Real Sociedad are also reportedly in the race to sign the promising striker.
Despite the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid and an injury to Oscar Bobb, Guardiola and City’s management are content with their current squad and will only make a move if the right opportunity arises.
