Liverpool have reportedly reached out to Juventus to explore the potential signing of Italian winger Federico Chiesa.
The Reds have yet to make significant moves in the transfer market this summer, with Arne Slot suggesting he is satisfied with his current squad.
Slot has maintained that new signings will only be made if they enhance the quality of the team.
However, in recent weeks, Liverpool have been linked with bringing in a winger to provide cover and competition for Mohamed Salah on the right flank.
West Ham’s new signing Crysencio Summerville was previously named as one option.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chiesa has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool.
The Merseyside club have reportedly made an ‘initial approach’ to assess the possibility of signing the 26-year-old Italy international.
Romano posted on X: “Liverpool make initial approach for Federico Chiesa as possible option for final days.
“Chiesa, available on the market as Juve want to find a solution and #LFC made contact today.
“Liverpool exploring conditions of the deal as Chiesa would be keen on PL move.”
Juventus have made it clear that Chiesa is no longer part of their plans, and the Serie A giants are eager to find a solution to his uncertain future.
Chiesa himself is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League after years of speculation about his next destination.
Tottenham, Chelsea, and Newcastle have also been linked with Chiesa in recent windows, while Barcelona is reportedly monitoring the situation.
Chiesa has been linked with a move to Liverpool multiple times during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at Anfield.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund boss is said to be an admirer of the former Fiorentina star, though Liverpool have never formally pursued him.
However, with Juventus now potentially open to a cut-price deal, the Reds may find the opportunity too tempting to pass up.
Juventus manager Thiago Motta effectively confirmed Chiesa’s availability earlier this summer when he excluded the No. 7 from the squad for a pre-season friendly against Ligue 1 side Brest, further fueling speculation about his imminent departure.
Speaking about the decision, the newly-appointed manager said: “Chiesa and all the other players not called up for today’s game are not part of the project.
“We have been clear with them, they have to find a new solution and new club as soon as possible.
“The decision has been made.”
