Liverpool are aiming to complete two signings before the transfer window closes, according to Football Insider.
The Premier League giants are seeking a midfield anchorman and a versatile centre-back who can also play at full-back.
They are currently prioritizing a left-sided centre-back who can provide cover for Virgil Van Dijk and also operate as a left-back.
However, Liverpool are prepared to wait until January or even next summer to secure the right defensive player.
On the other hand, signing a number six is a more immediate priority following the collapse of the deal to sign Martin Zubimendi.
The report claims that the midfield signing is the most likely to materialize.
Arne Slot is particularly keen to bolster his midfield options, and a Napoli midfielder would be viewed as a marquee signing for the Reds.
The Reds are eager to make this addition after missing out on several top targets this summer.
Elsewhere, Giorgi Mamardashvili is scheduled for a medical on Monday as Liverpool moves closer to securing their first signing of the summer.
The Reds have agreed on a £30m deal with Valencia for the Georgian international goalkeeper.
The arrangement will keep Mamardashvili in La Liga for the remainder of the current season before his transfer to Anfield in the summer of 2025.
Liverpool will pay an initial £25m to Valencia, with an additional £5m in potential add-ons.
A 10% sell-on clause is also reportedly included, which would see the 23-year-old shot-stopper join Liverpool ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Mamardashvili, who joined Valencia in 2021, has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Mestalla, making over 100 appearances for the club.
He gained wider recognition this summer through his performances for Georgia, who reached the knockout stages of the European Championship in Germany for the first time in their history before being eliminated by eventual champions Spain.
Although there were reports suggesting Mamardashvili might be loaned to Bournemouth following his transfer, Premier League regulations prevent such arrangements.
As a result, he will remain with Valencia until his move to Liverpool next year.
This deal will mark Liverpool’s first signing of the summer, with the transfer window closing in less than a week.
