How Ruud Van Nistlerooy is turning Marcus Rashford into world-class forward

Marcus Rashford is yet to score for Manchester United this season

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly benefiting from personalized training sessions with club legend and current assistant manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Struggling to find his best form, the 26-year-old Rashford remains one of the Red Devils’ most enigmatic players.

Despite his continued importance to Erik ten Hag’s squad, his recent inconsistency has raised concerns about his future at Old Trafford.

Determined to help Rashford regain his top performance, Van Nistlerooy has reportedly taken the attacker under his wing.

According to a recent report by The Sun, Van Nistlerooy has been staying behind after regular training sessions to provide individual mentoring.

The focus has been on improving Rashford’s back-post awareness and his runs across the box.

Although the impact of these one-on-one sessions remains to be seen, there was a slight improvement in Rashford’s performance during United’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

A narrow offside decision prevented him from scoring his first goal of the season.

With a crucial home fixture against Liverpool on the horizon, Marcus Rashford will be eager to apply Van Nistelrooy’s insights and use the high-profile match as an opportunity to kickstart his season.

Rashford has struggled to find the net since a prolific spell of three goals in three games nearly 20 months ago.

This is a stark contrast to his career-best tally of 34 goals the previous season.

Manchester United are hopeful that Van Nistelrooy – who scored 150 goals during his five remarkable years at Old Trafford – can inspire Rashford to rediscover his scoring touch.

Rashford did manage to find the net in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton, but his goal was disallowed for offside by the narrowest of margins.

João Pedro scored the decisive goal for the Seagulls in the fifth minute of stoppage time, while former United forward Danny Welbeck had opened the scoring, with Amad Diallo’s goal sandwiched in between.
