Manchester United and Chelsea have intensified discussions regarding a potential move for Ben Chilwell to Old Trafford, separate from ongoing negotiations about Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling, according to The Independent.

The clubs have been in continuous talks over the past two days, aiming to address various squad issues in the final 72 hours of the transfer window.

Chelsea’s primary focus has been to resolve Raheem Sterling’s future.

Despite Sterling’s significant wage and his uncertain future at Chelsea, Crystal Palace has reportedly declined the opportunity to pursue him.

However, this discussion has led to the consideration of Chilwell joining United.

With Luke Shaw’s persistent injury issues, which have caused manager Erik ten Hag to repeatedly experiment or compromise at left-back, United is exploring the possibility of acquiring Chilwell.

Although the figures are currently mismatched due to Chilwell’s high wage, progress might be linked to the Sancho situation.

There is a possibility that a loan deal could be struck, with Ben Chilwell moving to United and Sancho heading to Stamford Bridge, potentially with an arrangement on wages.

Additionally, the situation is complicated not only by financial concerns but also by Chilwell’s expected sidelining at Chelsea and Ten Hag’s longstanding desire to move Sancho on.

Paris Saint-Germain have shown no interest in Sancho, while Juventus remains interested but would require significant financial adjustments.

United have not dismissed Sterling outright, but discussions regarding his potential move have not advanced as much as those concerning Chilwell.
