Liverpool have turned down a cash-plus-player offer from Nottingham Forest for their goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher, according to The Athletic.
The proposed deal, which included Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner moving in the opposite direction, fell short of Liverpool’s £25 million to £30 million valuation.
The Merseyside club is not looking to sell the Republic of Ireland international before the transfer deadline on Friday.
Nottingham Forest are exploring several goalkeeper options but have long been interested in Caoimhin Kelleher, having had a previous approach rejected at the end of the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old has expressed his desire to become a first-choice goalkeeper, having demonstrated his quality as a backup to Alisson at Anfield.
Kelleher made 26 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions last season and has two years remaining on his contract.
Earlier this week, Liverpool completed a £29 million deal to sign Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia.
However, Mamardashvili will remain with the La Liga club for the remainder of the season and will join Liverpool in July 2025.
Consequently, Liverpool are relying on Kelleher for the current season and are reluctant to let him go.
Liverpool’s fourth-choice goalkeeper, Marcelo Pitaluga, is set to join Scottish Championship side Livingston on loan.
The 21-year-old Brazilian, who joined Liverpool from Fluminense in 2020, has previously been on loan at Macclesfield and St Patrick’s Athletic.
He recently signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool.
