Livingston have announced the signing of goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga on a season-long loan from Liverpool.
Marcelo de Araújo Pitaluga Filho, commonly known as Marcelo Pitaluga, joined the Reds from Fluminense in October 2020.
He recently extended his contract with Liverpool in January 2024.
At 17, Pitaluga arrived at Liverpool with experience from being named on the bench for two Serie A matches with Fluminense.
He was also part of the Brazil squad that won the FIFA U17 World Cup on home soil in November 2019.
During the 2021-22 season, Pitaluga was included on Liverpool’s first-team bench four times and played regularly for the U23s.
He spent the 2022-23 season on loan with Macclesfield FC and returned to Liverpool to participate in training and play for the U21s.
In early 2024, Pitaluga signed a contract extension with Liverpool and subsequently went on loan to St Patrick’s Athletic in the Republic of Ireland.
Marcelo will wear the number 14 shirt and, pending international clearance, will be available for selection in tomorrow’s match against Kirkcaldy.
