Frank Lampard has praised Arne Slot for his impressive adaptation to managing Liverpool, noting that the Dutchman stepped into a “well-oiled machine” of a team.
Slot has earned accolades for how he has evolved Liverpool following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
The departure of Klopp, who achieved Premier League and Champions League glory with Liverpool, left many questioning how the Reds would perform without their iconic German manager.
Slot, who arrived from Feyenoord in the summer, was entrusted with the task of replacing him.
So far, he has made a strong start, winning his first three matches, including a notable victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Slot has been proactive in stamping his authority on the team, making adjustments to the playing style that had become familiar under Klopp.
Lampard, in his analysis, highlighted that Slot inherited a squad that had enjoyed significant success and commended the new manager for the changes he has implemented early in his tenure.
He said on Match of the Day: “The small tweaks are very smart from the manager.
“He’s come into a machine of a team with a lot of talent and a system, but the small changes that leads you into seeing what we’re seeing.
“A lot of people have been talking about the different style – more passing and more build up – we’ve seen that in the first two games.
“Now against what you might say is a more difficult team at Old Trafford, and their decision was made to have the structure, but when they can play through them they did.”
On the tactical tweaks, he added: “You need good player and players with intelligence and attributes.
“It obviously helps having good players with good understanding and they’ve been well coached, let’s not forget what the previous manager has done over a long period of time.
Gary Neville, who had predicted that Manchester United would finish above Liverpool at the start of the season, believes that the nature of Liverpool’s victory at Old Trafford will be a significant boost for Slot.
This win will aid him as he seeks to establish himself at Anfield, despite the challenging task of succeeding a legendary manager
He said: “It’s a monumental day for Arne Slot. When you think about the job, forget convincing fans you can come here and replace Jurgen Klopp, but convincing the group of players who have had seven or eight years under a great manager.
“They’ve got to listen to someone different, and we know the challenge of that from clubs like Man Utd and Arsenal when Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger left, it’s been a big problem.
“This will be a big moment for him in establishing his foundations, and his message, making the players believe in him.”
