Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in a potential transfer for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni next summer, despite the Frenchman being an undisputed starter and key player at the Bernabeu.
The France international has excelled for Real Madrid after establishing himself as a top performer at his former club, Monaco, so it’s no surprise that he has admirers in the Premier League.
According to the Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, both Arsenal and Liverpool are preparing to compete for Tchouameni’s signature in the near future.
While it remains to be seen whether either club will be successful, the prospect of securing a player of his calibre is undoubtedly appealing.
For Arsenal, Tchouameni could be an ideal replacement for the aging Thomas Partey, who will be out of contract by next summer.
On the other hand, Liverpool might also present a tempting option for the 24-year-old.
With Arne Slot making a strong start as manager at Anfield, and the club missing out on a marquee midfield signing in the recent transfer window, Tchouameni could be seen as an ideal target.
Liverpool were previously linked with Martin Zubimendi, with Relevo reporting that the Reds tried to sign the Real Sociedad midfielder before he surprisingly chose to remain at his current club.
Tchouameni could be a solid alternative to Zubimendi in the middle of the park, though it will be interesting to see what kind of offer would be required to tempt Madrid into selling such an important player.
While the idea of seeing Tchouameni in the Premier League as he approaches the peak of his career is exciting, prying him away from Real Madrid could prove challenging.
The Spanish giants are known for being one of the most dominant clubs both on and off the pitch, and their ability to sign and retain top talent is central to that reputation.
