Galatasaray eye move for Casemiro with Manchester United open to selling Brazilian

Casemiro is one of United’s top earners

Galatasaray are reportedly considering a move for Casemiro, with Manchester United open to offloading the Brazilian midfielder.

Casemiro’s position at United has come under scrutiny following a disappointing performance in United’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The 32-year-old was substituted at halftime after making costly errors that led to Liverpool’s first two goals, both scored by Luis Díaz.

This lackluster display has raised doubts about Casemiro’s future at Old Trafford, and ESPN suggests he could be heading to Galatasaray.

The report indicates that United have been open to Casemiro’s departure throughout the summer.

Since his high-profile transfer from Real Madrid in 2022, for which United paid £60 million ($79 million), Casemiro has been one of the club’s top earners, with weekly wages reportedly exceeding £300,000 ($394,000).

Galatasaray’s interest could provide a feasible option for both sides, though the financial aspects of the deal are complex.

The Brazilian’s substantial salary might be a significant hurdle for the Turkish club, and a potential loan move could depend on United’s willingness to cover part of his wages.

Casemiro’s role as a regular starter is further under threat following the arrival of Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguayan was signed on deadline day for an initial €50 million (£42.3 million/$55 million) from Paris Saint-Germain, adding depth and competition to United’s midfield.

While Ugarte was ineligible to play against Liverpool due to registration issues, he will be available for selection after the international break.

With the Turkish transfer window remaining open until September 13, Galatasaray will continue to evaluate their options, with Casemiro seemingly a top target.

A move to Turkey could offer a fresh start and new challenge for the experienced Brazilian, while for Galatasaray, it would be a significant boost following their acquisition of Victor Osimhen from Napoli as they aim to strengthen their squad.
