Jamie Carragher has expressed hope that Arne Slot will refrain from revealing too much about Liverpool’s tactics, following multiple interviews with the new Reds head coach this season.
The Dutchman has enjoyed a flawless start to the Premier League campaign.
He has guided Liverpool to three consecutive wins without conceding a goal, leaving them second in the table heading into the international break.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Slot provided a compelling tactical breakdown of Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
While Carragher acknowledges his admiration for Slot’s tactical insights and the positive changes he has implemented, he hopes the Liverpool manager won’t share too many strategic details with their rivals.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Carragher discussed Slot’s impressive start at Anfield before engaging in another heated debate with Gary Neville over Manchester United’s decision to retain Erik ten Hag.
“Listening to him, he gives you something every time you speak to him from a tactical point of view,” said Jamie Carragher.
“Jurgen Klopp would give you something from a emotional point of view.
And asked by Ian Wright if he wanted Slot to stop doing it, he said: “Well I hope he does from a Liverpool point of view.
“I think it’s the Dutch way of doing things.
“They are on the front foot, they are quite open and if you ask a question they give you a answer, which is great for us.
“But anytime I watch Liverpool, the thing I do like is you see something slightly different in each game.
“The first game against Ipswich we spoke about the position of the full-backs, the next game against Brentford, Trent was doing slightly different, and against Man Utd it was different.
“I think on that one (exposing Man Utd), that’s something he (Slot) has spotted, the position of the full-backs and they played United in pre-season and he highlighted how they were different from last season.
“So I think it’s going to be interesting with Slot how much information he’s going to give going forward, because from a Liverpool point of view, put a lid on it a little bit.”
Liverpool will face Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth in their next two Premier League matches, sandwiched between a trip to Italy to face AC Milan in Slot’s first Champions League match with the club.
