Jurgen Klopp has shared insights into how he’s been spending his time after leaving Liverpool amid ongoing speculation about his potential return to football management.
Klopp stepped down as Liverpool’s manager at the end of last season, with Arne Slot succeeding him in the role.
During his tenure at Liverpool, Klopp secured seven major trophies, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
Since his departure, he has been enjoying a break from football management.
Over the summer, Klopp was seen attending matches at Euro 2024 and events at the Olympics and Paralympics in Paris.
Despite his time away from the game, Klopp has frequently been asked about the possibility of returning to a managerial role.
On Saturday, he made a return to football management for a special testimonial match at his former club, Borussia Dortmund.
The Signal Iduna Park hosted the Dortmund Farewell match for Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lucas Piszczek.
Klopp managed the Blaszczykowski XI, while his former Liverpool assistant, Peter Krawietz, took charge of the Piszczek XI.
The match concluded with a 5-4 victory for Klopp’s Blaszczykowski XI. After the game, Klopp reflected on life after his tenure at Anfield.
“I’m working, but not as much as I used to,” Klopp is quoted saying by the Daily Mail.
“I’m not just doing nothing, but sometimes I am. I don’t miss anything!”
After the match at Signal Iduna Park, Jurgen Klopp was seen performing his traditional fist pumps to the famous ‘Yellow Wall’ at Dortmund’s home stadium.
The former Liverpool boss shared his emotions about returning to the home dugout at the stadium for the first time since his departure in 2015.
“It’s a lifelong dream come true,” said Klopp.
“I wanted to have that again. Just a few months ago, I was given an emotional farewell in Liverpool.
“Today it was very emotional again.
“Some people might say that today he’s like this and tomorrow he’ll be like that.
“I explain it like this: when you have three children, you love them all.
“And that’s the same with my three clubs [Liverpool, Dortmund and Mainz]. I love them all.”
