Alisson Becker attributes Liverpool’s impressive start to the 2024-25 season to their exceptional work rate and unrelenting hunger for success.
Under new head coach Arne Slot, the Reds have secured three consecutive Premier League victories, triumphing over Ipswich Town, Brentford, and most recently, Manchester United.
Remarkably, Liverpool have yet to concede a goal this season.
Alisson attributes this defensive solidity to the collective responsibility shared by every player, emphasizing that the team’s success stems from their unified effort on and off the ball.
Alisson said: “His [Slot’s] ideas are not too complicated.
“He’s a really smart manager – not only about the way he thinks about football but the way he implements his ideas, it’s really clear.
“The message is really clear, so for us players it’s not too complicated and I think that’s what we are showing on the pitch.
“Now we get confidence from doing the things that he asks us to do.
“But he demands a lot of hard work from us and from our side we have to keep going with these kind of things.
“But the answer the players are giving on the pitch is unbelievable, the hard work is so good – we have to highlight that.
“Everybody with the same goal of winning the game, keeping the clean sheet and doing whatever is necessary to do on the pitch – to defend, to attack, to score goals, create chances.
“So that’s why I think we are doing so well at the beginning of the season.”
Alisson reserved special praise for the attacking players for their all-round contributions in the opening weeks of the season.
Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, who currently lead the squad with three goals each, have also been making significant defensive efforts.
“He [Salah] is a special player but he makes it look normal,” Alisson Becker continued.
“But when you look to his numbers, it’s unbelievable.
“The way Lucho is playing as well – his contribution to the team, his goalscoring, his movements, the things he can do when he has the ball.
“But what I want to highlight is the hard work of these guys defensive-wise.
“They are running a lot, they are working so hard for the team when they don’t have the ball – I think this is what is making us win these games at the beginning of the season.
“So we have to keep those things ongoing – not only Mo and Lucho but the other boys as well, Diogo [Jota], the midfielders, the line of four, everybody.
“We are working so hard and this is what should be the highlight from our side.”
