Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has emphasized that all players will be selected based on their performance in training, including Jadon Sancho, who recently made the move from Old Trafford to Stamford Bridge.
Sancho scored 12 goals and provided six assists for Manchester United following their £71 million investment in him in 2021.
He previously enjoyed a successful stint at Borussia Dortmund, where he played a key role in their Champions League campaign.
Despite this, his time at Old Trafford was marred by issues, including complaints from Erik ten Hag about his training standards.
Maresca has made it clear that the same high standards will apply at Stamford Bridge – Jadon Sancho will only feature in matches if he performs well in training.
He told LondonWorld ahead of the game against Bournemouth: “Before they joined the club, I had a chat with them, and one of my messages was, if you come here and don’t work properly, then you are not going to play.
“Before they arrived, the message was clear. For Jadon. For Joao.
“But the reason why I’m speaking to you is because I really like you.
“If you come here in the way that we want, we are happy.”
Chelsea make a short trip to the Vitality Stadium with a notable challenge ahead, having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 20 away games.
They face a Bournemouth side that has enjoyed a strong start to the season.
However, the Blues are aiming to make history of their own.
A win away from home would mark the first time in almost a year that they have secured four consecutive away victories.
Their best performance this season was their away win at Molineux against Wolves, which came in the second game of the campaign.
Chelsea are also set to welcome back Romeo Lavia, who has been sidelined with a muscle injury in recent matches.
