Liverpool are back in Premier League action today as they host Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
The Reds will be aiming to extend their perfect start to the season, having won their first three fixtures.
Arne Slot, who has had an almost flawless start as Liverpool’s new head coach, will be looking to secure another three points.
This match will be Liverpool’s first since the September international break, during which several players travelled globally with their national teams.
Unfortunately, the break brought an injury setback for Liverpool, with Harvey Elliott suffering a fractured foot while on duty with the England Under-21 squad.
Elliott is expected to be out for up to six weeks, potentially missing games until after the October international break.
Another player with fitness concerns during the break was Alexis Mac Allister.
He missed several training sessions with Argentina due to a reported adductor injury but managed to feature in both of his country’s World Cup qualifiers.
Slot has expressed hope that Mac Allister will be available for selection against Forest.
In terms of returning players, Curtis Jones is set to be included in the matchday squad after being sidelined.
Jones missed Liverpool’s victories over Brentford and Manchester United and was an unused substitute against Ipswich Town, so he has yet to make his first appearance of the season.
Federico Chiesa may also make his debut for Liverpool following his £12.5 million transfer from Juventus.
The Italy international has been training with his new teammates and focused on his fitness during the international break.
