Federico Chiesa is included in Liverpool’s 23-man squad for their Champions League opener against AC Milan on Tuesday.
The forward was among the players who departed from John Lennon Airport on Monday afternoon as the Reds prepared for their visit to the San Siro for matchday one.
Arne Slot’s squad began their journey to Italy shortly before 4 p.m. UK time.
A press conference is scheduled for later this evening, where the head coach will be joined by a member of his squad to preview the match against I Rossoneri.
Liverpool will look to return to winning ways following their unexpected Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest as they face AC Milan on Tuesday.
The Reds are returning to the Champions League after a season’s absence and will begin the newly restructured group stage with a match against Milan, a team they have previously met in the finals of 2005 and 2007.
Federico Chiesa, Liverpool’s sole senior signing this summer, is still awaiting his debut for the club.
The Italy international has not featured since Italy’s Euro 2024 Round of 16 loss to Switzerland in June and was again absent from the matchday squad on Saturday.
Despite this, Chiesa has been working on his fitness at the AXA Training Centre and was part of the group in training on Monday.
With additional places available on the bench in the Champions League, he is expected to be included among the substitutes at the San Siro.
