AC Milan are gearing up for their Champions League clash against Liverpool on Tuesday, with Paulo Fonseca expected to include Álvaro Morata and Fikayo Tomori in the starting lineup.
Both players were rested during Saturday night’s 4-0 victory over Venezia at San Siro.
Tomori remained on the bench throughout the match, while Morata, who recently returned from injury, was substituted during the second half.
Tomori’s absence from the starting XI was likely a precautionary measure ahead of the Liverpool game.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tomori is anticipated to return to the starting XI for Milan’s opening 2024-25 Champions League fixture, potentially replacing Matteo Gabbia.
Meanwhile, although Tammy Abraham made his debut for Milan on Saturday and scored a penalty, Morata is expected to take the field from the start against Liverpool.
Davide Calabria, who has also returned from injury, trained with the team on Monday morning and will compete for a starting position with Emerson Royal.
In midfield, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders are expected to feature alongside Youssouf Fofana.
On the wings, Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leão are set to be deployed.
Paulo Fonseca has made a slow start to his AC Milan reign as his side beat Venezia 4-0 on Saturday – recording their first victory in Serie A this season.
After drawing against Torino and Lazio and suffering a defeat to Parma in their previous matches, the Rossoneri made a strong comeback with an impressive performance on Saturday afternoon.
