Rodri has emphasized that he remains fully focused on Manchester City despite increasing speculation about interest from Real Madrid.
The 28-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s top players, with reports suggesting that Madrid could make a bid close to £100 million for his signature next summer.
However, City are calm regarding Rodri’s future, and he has taken steps to quell any uncertainty.
With his contract running until 2027, the club feels no pressure regarding his situation.
In fact, there are plans to offer the Spain international a new contract in the coming weeks, regardless of whether Madrid’s interest materializes.
However, the outcome of City’s ongoing Premier League hearing could be pivotal.
The club faces 115 charges of breaching financial regulations, and if these allegations are substantiated, it could result in sanctions that significantly impact the playing squad.
“I have nothing much to say,” Rodri told a press conference.
“I have three more years at City.
“When I sign the contracts I don’t think of other teams, I just think of finishing.
“So yes, I have a contract with City and there is nothing else I can say.”
Elsewhere, Manchester City could face expulsion from more than just the Premier League if found guilty of serious breaches of financial rules, according to The Telegraph.
Reports suggest that the club is at risk of being banned from both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, and their participation in the Champions League and Club World Cup may also be in jeopardy.
Manchester City have consistently denied any wrongdoing both before and after being charged by the Premier League, claiming they possess a “comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence” to support their position.
The club looks forward to resolving this matter definitively.
