Arne Slot has made history by becoming the first Liverpool manager to win each of his first three league away matches.

The head coach led his team to a 2-1 victory against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday evening, adding to earlier wins at Manchester United and Ipswich Town during the opening weeks of the 2024-25 season.

This marks only the third time Liverpool have won their first three away games in a Premier League season, following similar successes in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

With this latest win at Molineux, Liverpool now sit at the top of the Premier League table.

Ibrahima Konaté opened the scoring with a header, but Rayan Aït-Nouri equalised for Wolves shortly after.

However, Mohamed Salah quickly restored Liverpool’s lead with a penalty, allowing them to secure the win and capitalize on Manchester City’s earlier slip against Newcastle.

Despite a spirited performance, Gary O’Neil’s Wolves are still struggling, suffering their fifth defeat in six matches and remaining at the bottom of the table with just one point.

Speaking after the game, Arne Slot told Sky Sports: “For the long term you have to look at the performance.

“I don’t think we started well but you have to give credit to Wolves.

“They overloaded our right side a lot with many players.

“That’s why it was difficult at the start but second half we came out much better.

“The energy and intensity was much higher than the first 15 minutes.

“I saw the first goal and what stands out is the patience we have. In general we were much more patient.”

On Liverpool’s title chances this season, he added: “Pre-season helped. The players started to believe.

“We have a lot to prove when we come across the top sides.

“It’s good that we are where we are at the moment.

“I always try to be realistic, Jurgen’s work has been fantastic.

“We have to prove we can do it in the Champions League and Premier League.”
