Arne Slot has revealed that he has made only one significant change since taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool – and it’s not related to tactics on the pitch.

Slot has enjoyed a remarkable start to his Anfield career after replacing Klopp in the summer.

On Wednesday night, he became the first Liverpool manager in history to win eight of his first nine matches in charge, leading his team to victory over Bologna in the Champions League.

Liverpool currently sit at the summit of the Premier League table after six matches, and Slot has received considerable praise for his ability to step into such a prominent role following Klopp’s departure.

However, rather than focusing solely on accolades, the 46-year-old has consistently emphasised the strong culture and talented squad left behind by Klopp.

When asked by Sky Sports about the main “rule” he has introduced since his arrival, Slot mentioned that it revolves around the players’ sleeping arrangements.

“Maybe we’ve implemented one or two (rules), but I don’t even know what they are,” said Arne Slot.

“There was (already) a really good culture of players being on time, so I hate it if we have to talk about fines and these kinds of things for players being late.

“It’s normal that you’re on time.

“But that culture was already here, so maybe the only one – I’m not sure it’s a rule – but they used to go into hotels a lot the day before a game, and that’s what we’ve changed, because I and my staff feel the best place to sleep is your own bed, so it gives you the best rest possible.

“So it’s not really a rule, but that’s one of the few things we’ve changed.

“So before a home game the players are in their own house, their own bed, instead of being in a hotel.

“That’s not a rule but it did change.”
