Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has commended Liverpool’s relentless pursuit of success under their new boss Arne Slot, while urging his team to rediscover their form at Selhurst Park.
Despite the summer departure of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have maintained impressive momentum, winning their last five matches across all competitions and suffering only one defeat so far.
The Eagles face a challenging encounter against the Reds following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Everton, despite having taken an early lead.
Ahead of the kick-off at 12:30pm on Saturday, Glasner expressed admiration for how the Dutch coach, Slot, has facilitated a smooth transition, highlighted by a solid 2-0 Champions League victory over Bologna.
“Liverpool are doing quite well – (they have) fantastic players, a new manager who is doing a fantastic job,” Glasner said in his press conference.
“The squad has stayed together, nobody left, all the players look very hungry, very ambitious.
“I think it is the team with the most sprints in the game, most runs in behind, so they always threaten your defence.
“But we also want to play forward, we want to score a goal – because if we don’t score a goal, we can’t win.”
Last weekend at Goodison Park, Crystal Palace took an early lead thanks to defender Marc Guehi.
However, the advantage slipped away as Dwight McNeil scored twice, turning the match in Everton’s favour.
Oliver Glasner is well aware of the team’s urgent need to start securing victories in the league, especially since their only wins this season have been against Championship teams in the Carabao Cup.
“I think that there is no button we can press, so it is hard work,” he said.
“But it was the same last week, and it was in every club I was – it is hard work, nothing happens from itself.
“I said I have confidence because I see the players working to get back into their best shape, and we are getting players back getting into the rhythm.
“We will get our results.
“We have to play better over 95 or 100 minutes, this is what we know.
“We have parts in the game where we do it really well, but we have still parts where we don’t do it well.
“At Everton we lost the game within 10 minutes (in the second half), so we have to be more consistent all over the entire game.”
