Alexis Mac Allister has attempted to calm fears regarding a potential injury setback following his early exit from Liverpool’s victory over Crystal Palace due to a groin issue.

The midfielder was substituted for Dominik Szoboszlai at half-time at Selhurst Park on Saturday, having struggled with the problem during the first half.

Mac Allister is set to undergo medical assessments to determine the extent of any damage before a final decision is made on his participation in the upcoming international break. He is included in Argentina’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia. Following the match, the 25-year-old took to social media to reassure fans about his fitness.

“Now fully focused on what’s ahead.”

After the game, Slot told his press conference: “He went off because of an injury, but how bad it is is difficult for me to judge in this moment.

“He could have continued playing, like you saw, because it didn’t happen one second before half-time, but he felt it a bit too much and he said he didn’t think it was good to keep on playing because you never know if you will make it worse.

“Now, what is the exact situation, can he go to Argentina?

“Can he play over there?

“That is difficult for me to tell you now.

“[It’s an issue] in his groin area.”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot will be relieved by the news following Alisson Becker’s latest injury scare during the match against Crystal Palace.

The goalkeeper appeared to suffer another hamstring injury and is expected to withdraw from the Brazil squad for further assessment.

Alisson is set to undergo scans, and Liverpool are preparing for the possibility of being without their number one for an extended period.
