Liverpool are facing a new injury concern with goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who was forced off midway through the second half during Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian international was replaced by Vitezslav Jaros, making his senior debut, as usual understudy Caoimhin Kelleher was sidelined due to illness for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Alisson Becker appeared to be holding his hamstring after going down injured, and he sliced a clearance out of play in the second half, prompting concerns when play initially continued.

At the time of his exit, the Reds were leading 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Diogo Jota.

Arne Slot told his press conference: “The latest is that we don’t know but what we do know is that if a player walks off like he did, that normally means that he is not in the Brazil squad and I don’t expect him to be in the team in the first game we play after [the international break].

“We have to wait and see, but it is going to take a few weeks I assume for him to be back.

“I think it is [his hamstring].”

The No. 1 goalkeeper showed visible frustration at having to leave the pitch.

This season, he has already missed two matches due to injury, including the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League last month and the 5-1 Carabao Cup win against West Ham United.

Last season marked the fewest number of games for Alisson since his arrival from Roma for £65 million in the summer of 2018, as the recently turned 32-year-old participated in only 32 matches across all competitions.

Earlier this year, he was sidelined for nearly three months due to a muscle problem.

Alexis Mac Allister is set to undergo further evaluation to determine the extent of the injury he sustained during Liverpool’s victory.

The midfielder was substituted at half-time at Selhurst Park as a precaution, with the club awaiting results to assess the severity of the issue.

On Mac Allister, the boss added: “He went off because of an injury, but how bad it is is difficult for me to judge in this moment.

“He could have continued playing, like you saw, because it didn’t happen one second before half-time, but he felt it a bit too much and he said he didn’t think it was good to keep on playing because you never know if you will make it worse.

“Now, what is the exact situation, can he go to Argentina?

“Can he play over there?

“That is difficult for me to tell you now.

“[It’s an issue] in his groin area.”
