Jonny Evans gives honest verdict on speculation surrounding Erik ten Hag’s Man United future
Manchester United are currently 14th in the league table, points behind leaders Liverpool
Jonny Evans has acknowledged that ongoing speculation about Erik ten Hag‘s future is having an impact on Manchester United’s players.
United drew 0-0 with Aston Villa at Villa Park, the second of two games that were reportedly crucial in determining ten Hag’s position as the club’s manager.
Earlier in the week, United had also drawn 1-1 with Porto in the Europa League.
Despite earning a point in both matches, Evans has revealed that the uncertainty surrounding ten Hag is taking a toll on the squad.
United are currently experiencing their worst-ever start to a Premier League season.
The team sits 14th in the table, just five points above the relegation zone and six points behind the top four.
They have managed only one win in their last five league matches, adding to the mounting pressure on ten Hag and the squad.
Jonny Evans told BBC Match of the Day: “That was the important thing to show the spirit in the team.
“Everyone competed as much as they could.
“That’s a pleasing thing to see.
“You never have everyone available throughout the season.
“It’s important everyone coming in is ready to go when they’re ready.”
On Ten Hag being under pressure, he added: “It does affect the players. It’s on our minds too.
“I think the more experience I’ve got in my career I’ve made sure I do everything you I to be ready and give everything I can to the team.”
Following the international break, Manchester United will face Brentford in the Premier League.
