Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains confident that he will not be sacked following this week’s executive committee meeting.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is scheduled to meet with the club’s senior executives in London on Tuesday, where Ten Hag’s future is expected to be discussed.

When asked about the manager’s position before Sunday’s match against Aston Villa, Ratcliffe suggested that his personal views on Ten Hag would not be the deciding factor in any decisions made.

The football management team, including CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth, is anticipated to provide firm recommendations regarding Ten Hag’s future.

Sunday’s goalless draw at Villa Park left United with only five goals in eight matches, making them the second-lowest scoring team in the league, ahead of only Southampton.

Despite this disappointing start, Erik ten Hag is reportedly optimistic about his job security.

According to the Telegraph, he believes he still has the support of the club’s decision-makers.

The upcoming executive committee meeting was not specifically arranged to discuss the manager’s future but has been on the calendar for some time.

In addition to Ratcliffe, Berrada, and Ashworth, the meeting will include technical director Jason Wilcox and Joel Glazer, Ratcliffe’s fellow co-owner.

Glazer was recently in Manchester for a fans’ advisory board meeting before travelling to London.

Ten Hag has been granted a short holiday while several players are away on international duty, and he anticipates being in charge for the match against Brentford on October 19.

Should United choose to make a managerial change, Thomas Tuchel has emerged as a leading candidate.

Prior to the Villa match, Ratcliffe spoke to the BBC while in Barcelona for the Americas Cup.

When asked about his faith in Ten Hag, he refrained from offering unequivocal support.

“I don’t want to answer that question…” Ratcliffe said.

“I like Erik.

“I think he’s a very good coach but at the end of the day it’s not my call, it’s the management team that’s running Manchester United that have to decide how we best run the team in many different respects.

“But that team that’s running Manchester United has only been together since June or July.

“They weren’t there in January, February, March or April – [CEO] Omar [Berrada], [Sporting Director] Dan Ashworth – they only arrived in July

“They’ve only been there…you can count it in weeks almost – they’ve not been there a long time so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions.

“Our objective is very clear – we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it’s not there yet, obviously – that’s very clear.”
