Adama Traore lifts lids on what Pep Guardiola said to him after Fulham’s loss at Man City
Adama Traore missed several goalscoring chances against Man City last weekend
Fulham winger Adama Traore has shared insights into his conversation with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola following last weekend’s thrilling clash at the Etihad Stadium.
In an exhilarating match, Fulham took an early lead through Andreas Pereira before Mateo Kovacic scored twice to put Man City ahead.
Jeremy Doku extended City’s lead to 3-1, but Rodrigo Muniz pulled one back for Fulham late in the game, resulting in a 3-2 victory for City.
The outcome might have been different had Traore capitalized on a couple of clear scoring opportunities.
After the match, Guardiola was seen offering advice to Traore on the pitch. Having known Guardiola from their time together at Barcelona, Traore revealed that the City manager encouraged him and provided tips on finishing the chances he had missed.
The 28-year-old praised Guardiola, calling him “the best coach in the world.”
Adama Traore told El Larguero: “I’ve known him for a few years, but it’s always appreciated.
“He is the best coach in the world, without a doubt.
“After the game he came up to me to tell it was a good game, he gave me some pointers on how to finish the chances I had against them.”
Asked about Traore in his post-match press conference, Guardiola said: “I met him at Barca.
“When I arrived at Aston Villa I also had a call with him and he has always been friendly.”
“Adama, he’s unstoppable that game.
“We couldn’t control when he had the ball.
“You have to defend in your 18-yard box.”
Adama Traore began his career at Barcelona, representing the club at the youth level and making four senior appearances before moving to Aston Villa in 2015.
He then had subsequent spells at Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers, including a loan return to Barcelona before joining Fulham in 2023.
Known for his direct runs and pace, Traoré poses a constant threat to opposing defenses.
However, he has found the back of the net only three times in 26 appearances for Fulham so far.
As of now, Fulham sit in eighth place in the Premier League, having accumulated eleven points from their first seven matches of the season.
