Bukayo Saka and Curtis Jones have both withdrawn from the England squad ahead of their upcoming Nations League clash against Finland on Sunday.
Saka limped off during England’s defeat to Greece on Thursday and has since returned to Arsenal for further assessment.
The 23-year-old appeared to show discomfort in his right leg and is reportedly undergoing a scan to determine the extent of a potential injury.
“He’s being assessed,” Carsley said of his player after Thursday’s 2-1 defeat.
“In the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg.”
An FA statement said: “Curtis Jones and Bukayo Saka will not travel to Finland. Saka has returned to Arsenal for further assessment having been substituted during the second-half of Thursday night’s match against Greece.
“Liverpool’s Jones remains in England owing to a personal commitment.
“A squad of 22 will now fly to Helsinki on Saturday afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s UEFA Nations League fixture.”
As a result, neither player will be replaced in Lee Carsley’s squad.
Jones arrived at the England camp on Tuesday night, eager to earn his first senior cap.
His only previous call-up to the senior squad came during the buildup to the Euros this summer, but he did not make Gareth Southgate’s final team.
Jones made his second start of the season against Crystal Palace over the weekend, following four appearances off the bench, marking a slow start.
After his first start against West Ham last month, Jones reflected on his challenging beginning to the campaign, saying: “I’m just a lad who always wants to play.
“It’s been hard, I’ve had an injury and stuff, but now I’m back and I’m playing games with a smile on my face.”
