Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui could return to action by mid-November, according to Morocco boss Walid Regragui.

Mazraoui underwent a minor precautionary procedure this week after experiencing palpitations.

While Manchester United has not provided a specific timeline for his return, it is expected that he will be sidelined for a prolonged period during his recovery from what is understood to be a relatively common condition.

The 26-year-old full-back was substituted during United’s 0-0 draw against Aston Villa and later withdrew from Morocco’s squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Central African Republic.

However, Regragui offered a positive update regarding Mazraoui’s condition when asked about him.

“Noussair Mazraoui is not suffering from a dangerous illness, Inshallah (God willing), he will be with us in the next camp in November,” he said.

Morocco are set to face Gabon and Lesotho on November 10 and 18.

Noussair Mazraoui has started all seven of Manchester United’s Premier League matches this season at right-back after his £17 million transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer.

His versatility is a significant asset for Erik ten Hag, especially given the absence of left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia this season.

“Yeah, I was a midfielder and then, for the second team, I played one season in every position. From left-winger to central defender in the next game,” Mazraoui said recently.

“So I’ve played everywhere and that is what really helped me now because wherever I come onto the pitch, I feel comfortable.

“I don’t feel like ‘what do I have to do over here?’

“I just know what to do with it.

“I’ve played already in every position so that really helped me a lot.

“The moment I got my first professional contract, I felt from that moment on that my career was starting and I just wanted more, it was kind of my first success in my career.

“Every step I’ve made, which was a move to this big club, or the move to Bayern Munich as well, these are moments which show why you work so hard every day, why you do the extra work.”
